(And in all cases I am not using their product because it is inferior to others I use for the same purpose.) They will say I am not using Norton Backup or some other element of their suite I've purchased. What I find most irritating are what are currently called Service Notifications. This is truly just an indirect pitch for you to buy into their LifeLock product line. If it is one that I have a relationship with, I most likely already know it and can do nothing about it. I don't need Norton to tell me that some credit card or other company has been hacked. What Norton controls is the rest of their Message system.

In Administrative Settings you can turn off:.In my opinion, nearly every message, other than those relating to program failures, local virus identification & remediation, and updates, is an advertisement from Norton: If I still cared, I should complete the experiment by marking the item as read to see what happens. This is truly an imperfect and unproven long term solution, but at this point I've grown tolerant of the blue circle and will ride this out until my subscription expires (and is not renewed). Yours may vary depending on the launch view you've chosen.) (See attached.) Also when I open My Norton the envelope icon in the middle section has a matching blue circle. That means in my taskbar notification area my Norton icon has a blue circle with the number '1' added to it. I left the last message they sent as unread. If that were true, this conversation thread would have ended rather than continued. It surely isn't because Norton changed their policy. It may be because someone from Norton read my rant and flipped some secret inhouse switch for me, but unlikely. I have not gotten a new popup in 3 weeks. Simple conclusion: Why would you trust a company to protect your privacy and security when that same company considers itself exempt from those behaviors when it comes to its paid customers? You don't. They will also send you a survey request that no one at corporate will ever respond to, much less read.

Talk to a Symantec consultant.most won't know what you are talking about, but they will tell you how to stop Task Notifications which are not the same thing.

Try to ignore them and your windows 10 task bar notification area will never stop displaying the you have unread messages. Search for user solutions on the web: thousands of complaints, no solution for these particular so-called messages. Now just try to shut them off.can't be done with the user interface. At best I would describe it as useless, insulting, and disrespectful. Just look at the Service NotificationI have attached. What is even more egregious is that they do it on your windows desktop! You don't even need to have a browser or mail client.
NAV has become a symbol of hypocrisy selling an anti-spam product that actual spams its customers. But as it stands today, I will not be renewing or recommending NAV or any other NortonLifeLock product for the simple reasons stated in this thread. Even today, as a semi-retiree I personally have 20 licenses for NAV.
And for the most part have been happy with them. I have installed them in my own various companies as well as those of uncounted clients. I have used Norton branded products for almost 40 years.
